Quala Care Curriculum
The curriculum shall be developed around the needs of the young child, taking into consideration how he learns. The curriculum includes a number of varied, first-hand experiences. The curriculum shall draw from all instructional areas and present these as integrated foundational learning experiences that teach concepts, foster skills and serve as learning tasks rather than isolated subjects.
Curriculum – The curriculum shall be structured so that the children:
• Develop concepts and apply them in decision-making and problem solving situations.
• Develop skills in gaining and organizing information.
• Experience success and satisfaction in learning.
• Extend intellectual, spiritual, emotional, physical and social development.
• Develop language ability and listening skills.
• Develop positive feelings and attitudes about themselves and others.
• Develop creativity and self-expression.
• Accept increasing responsibility for themselves and learn to develop independence.
Daily Program
• The daily program shall be scheduled in large blocks of time and shall offer a variety of learning opportunities.
• There shall be a balance between stimulating and quiet activities, free choice and teacher-directed activities, large and small group activities and opportunities for individual exploration and study.
Curriculum Material and Equipment – A large selection of curriculum materials and equipment of good quality, appropriate to the needs and the abilities within the group shall be provided in sufficient quantities.
Activities in the areas of
Art, Music, Physical Education and
Movement Education will be provided by the classroom teacher to further enrich the preschool program.
Play – It looks like play, but we are learning:
• to work and play together
• to respect the rights of others
• to be kind and considerate of others
• to express ourselves creatively
• to grow in self-control
• to listen to directions and to follow them
• to develop good working habits
• to finish what we start
• to clean up after work time
• to participate in group activities
• to enjoy using a variety of materials
• to share toys, equipment and experiences
• to dramatize stories and experiences
• to develop an interest in the world
• to understand new words and to use them
• to improve muscular coordination
• to develop new interests and extend old ones
