The faculty at The Academy for Individual Excellence consists of a team of caring individuals dedicated to a common philosophy of helping students excel academically and personally. Teachers strive to “learn” each student and assist them in reaching their potential. Our teachers believe that academic material is important, but that teaching each student to be a life-long learner is also vital to continued success. Learning to simply achieve a grade is not stressed; learning for the attainment of knowledge is priority at AIE.
The Academy for Individual Excellence maintains a low teacher-to-student ratio and we strive for close, professional relationships between students and instructors. It is our goal to offer students the opportunity to experience and gain confidence in seeking guidance and support from those in leading positions. We believe this interaction benefits all AIE students, those college-bound as well as those choosing to immediately enter the workplace upon graduation.
The Academy for Individual Excellence faculty has a reputation for permanence. The teachers' common goals, belief in methods used and dedication of heart result in rare teacher turnover at the Academy. This offers students more opportunity for stability and success in our program, as well as the continued development of our schools curriculum.
Our open-door policy encourages The Academy for Individual Excellences teachers and parents to discuss issues that are important to the development of the student. The faculty and administration realize the importance of an accurate understanding of each student and the value of keeping parents well informed. With teachers, parents and administrators diligently working together, success is easier to achieve.

John Savage is the founder of AIE. He has served in a dual role as teacher and administrator for the 24 yrs of the schools exsistance. His philosophy and teaching techniques are implemented throughout the program. This is accomplished by conducting many hours of in-service training for his staff each year and by a very hands-on approach each day. Mr. Savage has the opportunity of seeing the success of the program in his four adult children who have graduated from the Academy, experiencing the success with his one child still enrolled in the school and envisioning tomorrow's success for the grandchildren who are beginning their preschool years at AIE. One of his favorite qoutes is " Education is what is left over of the journey after the details are forgotten."

Pam Cheek is the elementary coordinator at AIE. Before Mrs. Cheek began her current role at AIE, she had the opportunity to work in the classroom with Mr. Savage, learning firsthand the philosophy and techniques that are the core of the program. Mrs. Cheek continued to develop her skills while she taught Kindergarten and third and fourth grades. In addition, to her classroom work, Mrs. Cheek has volunteered in almost every aspect of the program, as well as having been a parent of two graduates of the Academy. Her experience and expertise make her a valued part of the Academy. |

Ms. Julie Dye has been a member of the faculty at the Academy for 18 years. She has served as the Dean of the High School for the past six years. Her experience in teaching at the Academy prior to accepting this role has given her a strong understanding of the classroom, curriculum, and implementation of the methods and strategies used at the Academy. Ms. Dye is also a parent of two children at the Academy. The leadership and organizational skills gained as a captain in the Army Reserves combine with her experience at AIE, forming the
right combination for her role at AIE. |
