The Academy for Individual Excellence has a growing athletic program. AIE recognizes athletics as a viable tool for the development of individual ability, sportsmanship and teamwork. With this understanding, AIE has strived to develop an athletic program that reflects its overall philosophy and commitment to the student, as well as an avenue to develop school pride.
AIE is a member of the
KCAA,
Kentucky Christian Athletic Association. It is an organization that is made up of Christian schools from as far east as

Tollesboro, KY to as far west as Evansville, IN. There are 23 schools currently in the association participating in sports, including basketball, volleyball, golf, baseball, and soccer.
We are proud to be part of the KCAA because we are the only school that has ever been allowed to join that is not a “Christian” school. We were invited in because of the way we handled ourselves on and off the court. We have consistently demonstrated behavior that shows respect toward our players, coaches, fans, the officials and the opposing team that reflects the Christian and moral values the KCAA strives to promote. The league continues to grow, allowing the athletes from smaller schools to be able to participate in competitive athletics. Every year, there are athletes that come from the KCAA that play at the collegiate level at schools such as Spalding, Asbury, Berea, and Kentucky Christian. This league allows young people to play sports in a Christian environment and we are pleased to be part of it.
The Academy currently offers basketball, volleyball
Schedule, and soccer
Schedule for its students. Basketball is offered to 5th and 6th graders as an intramural program. This program teaches the students the fundamentals of the game without the pressures of winning. Once the students move to the 7th grade, they will start playing at a competitive level. They play other private schools throughout Jefferson County such as Collegiate, Walden, Meredith Dunn, and Little

Flock. This lets them start to develop the competitive edge that will carry them on into the high school level. In the 9th grade, they will start competing in the KCAA and travel across the state for games, in addition to playing in various tournaments. The KCAA offers Regional and State Tournaments for basketball and most of its other sports.
Volleyball is offered to our high school girls. It is broken into a JV and Varsity team, as is basketball, which allows more athletes to get playing time. The volleyball team is also part of the KCAA, and they conclude their season with a regional and state tournament.
Soccer is offered as a co-ed sport. Students from 7th to 12th grade are used to field the team, and as part of the KCAA, the soccer team participates in season-end tournaments as well. The soccer team is a recent addition to our sports program. It has allowed many of our students to be a part of Academy athletics who had not previously had that opportunity. We are excited about its addition, and we are looking forward to future success both for the team and its players.
Both our basketball and volleyball teams have been successful in winning Regional and State tournaments in recent years. We are blessed to have a beautiful gym to house most of our sporting events and to host numerous tournaments throughout the year.
Here at the Academy, we allow everyone who is willing to put in the effort to participate in our sports program. If your child is interested in playing sports and has the desire to work hard and give his or her best, then The Academy is a place where your child can explore their interest in athletics and be accepted as a team member in a safe environment. Every child who puts in the effort not only gets a chance to be on the team, but is guaranteed playing time in all regular season games.
